Published Authors

Since 2010, we have worked with former Sciennes’ parent (and published author herself), Mary Turner Thomsom on a number of very exciting projects, enabling literally hundreds of our children to be in the enviable position of being published authors themselves! Eight publications in total, involving almost 1000 of our pupils over seven years.

Pupils have experienced their own book launch parties – at City Chambers, the Festival Theatre and on the Meadows – and all received a personal copy of their own book. Many thanks to Mary for guiding so many of our children through the entire process of planning, writing, editing, marketing and advertising through a series of workshops and bringing their work to print. Mary’s projects with us have honed literacy skills, provided a real sense of audience and developed skills for learning, skills for life and skills for work. An excellent way to increase pupil confidence and boost self esteem.

Our latest publication, “BaDUMtsh!” with Mary gained press coverage for P7 pupils’ efforts to raise funds for Comic Relief and included gracious support from comedian Patrick Monahan.
