Former Sciennes’ pupil Maddy Martin contacted us to help her promote this charity event that she is organising to raise funds for Teenage Cancer. She was a pupil here eight years ago and her sister Katy was a pupil three years ago. Maddy is now a student at Edinburgh College in her second year of HND Events Management and it’s great to hear from her. We wish her success with her venturesl.
The Scotch Bonnet Events Adventure Race, Muddy Monsters, will be held on the

Registration will be open from 12:30pm until 1pm when children taking part will be registered and allocated a coloured bib, please note: guardians will be required to sign a disclaimer before the child takes part in the event. At this point you must let us know who will be collecting your child at the end of the day. Parents/ guardians will be asked to sign-out children.
At 1pm, there will be a short talk regarding thework of charity that we are supporting, Teenage Cancer Trust, to help raise awareness of their work.
The Scotch Bonnet Events Team: Jade, Jordan, Lynsey and Maddy, will then give a short event brief, explaining how the race will be run. The race will begin no later than 1.30pm.
Bonaly is situated to the south of Edinburgh, near Colinton, with easy access from the Edinburgh Bypass or by the number 10 Lothian bus
(for detailed directions, please visit: http://www.bonaly.org.uk/directions/).
Children aged 8-14 are to enter in teams of up to 8(and minimum of 4)to compete in the adventure race. Teams can be of mixed age and gender. We recommend that the team help each other round the course, working together.
All we ask is that children wear suitable shoes such as trainers or boots and some older clothing which keeps them warm and dry, which you don’t mind getting MUDDY!!!!
Tickets cost £5 per child, this includes entrance and race participation; teas, coffees and juices which will be available from 12.30pm onwards, and soup and a roll offered to participants provided by Bonaly’s catering staff, will be available from 3pm onwards. So no need for a packed lunch!
A similar event at Bonaly has been extremely popular and has already sold out, so please book your places soon if you are interested. It will be an exciting, action packed day that should not be missed!
First-aiders will be on site as well as a number of volunteers and qualified instructors. All over 18s on site will hold a PVG Certificate to reassure you of the children’s safety.
We are a not-for-profit organisation with all proceeds going to the Teenage Cancer Trust. We would like to encourage children to raise money for our charity if they wish to do so. We can provide sponsorship forms to any children who are interested in raising money which they will bring along with them on the day with their funds and form. Any contributions towards our charity would be greatly appreciated, even buying a ticket will help to raise money so we hope you consider coming to our event.
The adventure race will include a variety of fun activities for all the teams to take part in:
· Blind trail
· Rubber Archery
· Assault course
· Grass sledging
· Drain pipe fill
· Spider web
· Broken bridge
· Ball pipe run
· Mime game

Our aim is to create a variety of fun activities that all the children will enjoy and can work together to try and win as a team.
