Andrew’s Summer Roundup

RESPECT INCLUSION TEAMWORK EFFORT

26 June 2020

Dear Families

It is quite surreal writing to you on this last day of term as it has been a term like no other!

I want to thank you for supporting and encouraging your children with their home learning. I know being a parent and a teacher will have been a challenge. However, I know this will have been made a lot easier by our amazing staff. They have been working hard and doing their best for their pupils since the day lockdown started and indeed long before. The vast majority of them while managing the demands of their own family, including shielding and caring for older family members. I do not need to tell any of you how tough that is. The staff have been very grateful for your support and much was achieved by home and school working together.

As you know, we are planning for all pupils to return to school on 12 August, although Primary 1 will have a staggered entry in that first week. We await further information from the Scottish Government and will share this with you when it becomes available over the summer holidays. If you have any questions or queries in the summer, please email me directly on andrew.hunter@sciennes.edin.sch.uk

I want to say a special thank you and good luck message to our magnificent Primary 7 children. They have had a Primary 7 like no other Primary 7.  However, the P7 staff and pupils have led the way in pioneering our work in Teams. The children have been so positive and contributed much to enabling us to make Teams better for all. The P7 staff have been just superb and remotely produced an amazing Year Book. Thank you to Ms McGrouther for pulling it all together and to the P7 staff for hand delivering it. Primary 7 also had great fun in a whole year group live quiz! It was quite an accomplishment.  We will miss them all but we are going to invite them back for a big party when it is safe to do so! They are ready for High School!

Please find below a link to our Summer Assembly. We hope you enjoy watching this and a big thank you goes to Ms Gallagher for her amazing technical ability in pulling this together.

I will end this final Roundup with my usual hopes for the summer holidays. I hope you will find some time to relax, to recharge and to reconnect with family and friends.

I look forward to seeing you all in August.

Andrew
