Wonderful, though very chilly, EPSSA Cross Country event at the Meadows on Monday 26th February 2018, the day the Beast from the East began to make its presence felt. Anna achieved a fabulous Fourth Place in the P6 Girls’ race and Dylan also achieved Fourth Place in the P6 Boys’ race, each receiving an EPSSA medal. Sam K achieved a very commendable ninth place in the P7 Boys’ Race. The other runners also did extremely well, with many being placed in the first fifty in each event, competing against 48 schools from all over the city.
Our five fastest P6 and P7 boys and girls out of the ten who competed in each race will go on to compete in the EPSSA Final Cross Country event at Inverleith Playing Fields on Friday 20th April. Thank you to all the parents who came along to support and to parents Kate Kitchin and Sue Lewis who prepared the children so well, along with lunchtime Running Club coach Willie Jarvie. Participation in the Lothian Schools Cross Country events has also had a hugely positive impact on the progress and success of the pupils. Well done P6 and P7! A very exciting event!
Thank you to Mrs Humira Yaseen for helping to officiate and to our PE Specialist, Mrs Beth Walker, for organising the proceedings with Head of EPSSA Headteacher Willie French.
Our very own EPSSA *STAR*, Mrs Beth Walker
Thank you to JGHS Active Schools Co-ordinator, Mr Eliot Ambrose, for his expertise and assistance with the school trials on Monday 29th January 2018:
