The Children and Young People’s Commissioner in Scotland is Bruce Adamson.
The Commissioner’s job is to help everyone understand children’s rights and to make sure those rights are respected. His goal is to make sure all children and young people in Scotland are as safe and happy as possible. His role is to be a friend – a powerful friend – to all young people in Scotland, particularly those who are disenfranchised.
Bruce works towards this goal by:
- listening to children and young people
- asking people in power – like Members of the Scottish Parliament – to think about how new laws might affect children and young people,
- helping everyone learn more about children’s rights, and
- speaking out if children and young people are not getting a fair deal.
We were delighted that Bruce dropped in to our Year of Young People Summer Fair on Saturday 26th May 2018 and it was a pleasure to meet him and his family.
