This year – and particularly throughout the summer – extensive refurbishment has taken place at Sciennes, with a total of £672k being spent on external and internal building works.  This is part of £119m investment across the Council estate: http://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/blog/newsblog/post/1509/proactive-approach-is-building-a-better-future.

Tremendous efforts have been made to keep to tight timescales for significant improvements throughout the entire school but with no access to the building or playground for staff during the summer, the Scottish Government granted two additional closure days to prepare for pupils returning. We are therefore looking forward to welcoming pupils back to school on FRIDAY 16th AUGUST and hope all our families have had a relaxing summer break.

We appreciate pupils returning equipped with P.E. kit which should include a change of labelled clothes and indoor gym shoes in a gym bag.

ARRANGEMENTS FOR FRIDAY 16th AUGUST

New pupils joining us should make their way to the Hall where a member of the Senior Leadership Team will meet them and take them to class.

LINES ON DAY ONE 8.50am P2-P7

To help pupils locate their new classrooms, all Class Teachers will meet classes in the playground on the first day of the new session, Friday 16th August. Cones with flags will mark where to line up. Thereafter, pupils will make their own way to class without lining up when doors are opened by staff between 8.45am and 8.50am.

Reception (EAST; Main Door)

Shed – P2A, P2B,

Playground – P5A, P5B, P5C, P6A, P6B, P6C, P7A, P7B, P7C

Room 5 door – P2A

Care Zone (WEST; Sick Kids side)

Playground – P3A, P3B, P3C, P4A, P4B, P4C

PRIMARY ONE PUPILS – ARRANGEMENTS FOR FRIDAY 16th AUGUST

P1A, P1B, P1C and P1D should line up in the shed at 9.30am. P1 Class Teachers will collect pupils from the playground and parents are kindly requested to say goodbye prior to entering school.

Normal finish time on Fridays is 12.05pm but on 16th August, P1 pupils will be dismissed at 11.50am to ease congestion. They will wait with Class Teachers until collected by families.

N.B. Please note that we ask all P1, P3 and P4 pupils to enter and exit only by the Care Zone door each day to reduce traffic at the Reception entrance. Thank you.
